Atomic Anchor Piercing: A Delmarvalous Delight

Here at Shop Local Delmarva, we try to highlight a variety of businesses and services, and as I was thinking about what business has stood out to me in recent weeks, I immediately thought of Atomic Anchor Piercing in Ocean City, on the boardwalk.

In the past six weeks, you could say that my teen and I have become frequent enough customers that they recognize us (and gave me a discount on my last visit).

When you’re looking for someone to do your piercings—and that is any piercing, whether it’s lobe piercing, nose, septum, nipples or other body parts—there are some key things you want to look for in the piercer and their business. You want a business and piercer that has an excellent reputation, superior knowledge of their skill, sanitary practices, and offers appropriate jewelry for the piercing.

Atomic Anchor is owned and operated by OC locals Dan and Bridgette, along with their second boardwalk location, Dimensions Piercing. When you walk in the door, you’re greeted with friendly, cordial service, and if you’re not quite sure? They’ll answer your questions and help you choose the right piercing and the right jewelry for you.

In the three times I visited in the past six weeks, I was able to see them interact with a variety of customers. Everyone gets the same friendly service, the same matter-of-fact presentation, and the same honest truth. I observed a young teen come in with a nose piercing and a belly piercing that were both healing very badly after having been done by other piercers in the Baltimore area. Dan was able to explain very clearly, demonstrating both his knowledge and his passion for his profession, why her piercings weren’t healing (they were pierced at an angle, incorrectly, and she was given the wrong jewelry for her piercings) and shared with her what she could expect from the piercings and how she could help them heal as much as possible. And he offered this at no cost to the customer.

I’ve heard from other customers how pleased they’ve been with their experience at Atomic Anchor, and the fact that Dan takes time to chat with you about the piercing, what you would like and what will work for you. He offers suggestions based on how it will look, and what you want, instead of just putting the same piercing in the same place for everyone.

The process of piercing itself is not painless (yeah sorry to burst that bubble) but I will say that it’s the least pain I’ve ever experienced with piercings and with the healing process. In fact, I had such an excellent experience with the lower pain even when I was having two piercings done on one ear, that I went back and got a third done.

Each piercing is done with a new needle, which is immediately disposed of after the piercing, and done with new jewelry. They offer only quality jewelry and you have your choice of stainless steel or titanium for many of the piercings. Care instruction is straightforward and they do offer a saltwater spray but do not push it on you at all.

In the six weeks since our total of seven piercings, my teen and I have both healed with minimum pain, zero infection, no problems and are healing quickly and well. I’m already planning future piercings after a bit more healing on the one side so I can sleep on it.

They offer piercing to minors but a parent must accompany them with an original birth certificate (no duplicates) and you will need to have a form notarized. Bridgette is a notary so if she’s there, she can do it for you at no additional charge, but please plan ahead with an appointment to ensure she’ll be present!

As you can see, our visits to Atomic Anchor were top notch Delmarvalous Delight and I will continue to recommend them to those looking for experienced, quality piercers who will treat you well and give you an excellent piercing!
