Snow Hill: A Delmarvalous Delight

 Can we talk for a just a minute about how Snow Hill is underrated and just not discussed enough? I know we all love Berlin, and Berlin loves itself, and we talk about what a great small town it is, but what no one says is what a glow up Snow Hill has had in the past few years. So let me say it. Y’all: Snow Hill has grown up and glown up and it’s worth a visit.

Why? It’s home to a bakery that has some of the best baked goods on the shore, a boutique that has a near-cult following and a generous selection of cute clothes and home goods, a candy shop with an in-shop baker who makes some of the most delicious chocolate cupcakes I’ve ever experienced, a corner shop with the absolute best vinegars and oils on Delmarva, and a plethora of developing shops and restaurants that offer some wonderful shopping and eating.

In short, Snow Hill is a hidden delight that needs you to visit and discover it.

It’s been about a year since I first ventured to Snow Hill to visit Del Vecchio’s bakery and Sassy Girl Boutique. My husband and I were doing a small circle of Salisbury/Pocomoke/OC/Berlin (with a side trip to Assateague Island) and we decided to add in Snow Hill because I really wanted to visit Del Vecchio’s. At the time, I only managed to visit there and Sassy Girl, and was charmed by them both, so decided that I needed to visit again to take in some of the other stores/restaurants.

I’m glad we did, because we’d been missing out.

In addition to the favorites of Del Vecchio’s Bakery and Sassy Girl Boutique, I want to add Royal Port Candy and The Corner Shoppe to my new must-visit lists.

Royal Port Candy is exactly what it sounds like: a candy shop. But a candy shop with a charming, passionate owner, a pastry baker who makes magic, and a delicious selection of chocolates, macarons, and various assorted delights. And no kidding, I got a mini chocolate cupcake that was one of the best cupcakes I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot) and I was pretty ticked off that it was gone in three bites! The owners of Royal Port will be opening a new restaurant (Puerto Real Tacos & Cantina) featuring Mexican food and signature cocktails in the next month or so and I cannot wait!

Then there’s The Corner Shoppe. The place where I made two purchases in one visit because the tasting samples drew me in and helped me fall in love. This is one of my favorite types of shops: a place that sells cooking seasonings, sauces, oils and vinegars. And this is now one of my new must-stops because the vinegars and oils that they sell here are some of the best, highest quality, most flavorful that I’ve tried since I was actually in Italy!

In addition to these new favorites, there’s other excellent stops: Oaked 110 Whiskey & Wine Bar, Toy Town Antiques (formerly in Berlin), Jacey Mae’s Children’s Boutique and more.

I also noticed that Snow Hill is doing more to bring people in with upcoming events. First Friday(happening Friday, December 3^rd), Santa’s Village (Saturday, December 4^th), Snow Hill Lion’s Club Holiday Parade (Monday, December 6^th), Dickens Weekend (December 11^th-12^th) and Ice Skating at Sturgis Park are the December 2021 events!

If you’ve never been to Snow Hill, it’s time to add it to your local explorations!
